Tarot Tuesday

Take a moment and take a deep breath. Get centered, and grounded, then pick a card. By get centered I mean to get calm, focused, and to be present in the moment.  By get grounded I mean to uncross your feet and arms, with feet flat on the floor. It is also beneficial if you can quickly imagine roots shooting down from your root Chakra and feet into the Earth. Allow these roots to anchor you in a supportive way that neutralizes negativity and draws up nurturing Earth energy for stability. Sometimes more than one l breath is needed to feel ready. Often three nice, slow, deep breaths are just right. Do what feels best for you…

Once you are ready pick the card you feel the most drawn to. There are crystal skulls being used as markers above each card, I will include these in the following mini-readings. The Tarot deck this week is the Morgan-Greer, published by U.S. Games Systems, Inc. The crystals above each card are from left to right Arfvedsonite, Zebra Jasper, and Fluorite. Pay attention to your initial reaction when your card is revealed, and then compare this to your reaction with the mini-reading. Our emotions, feelings, and thoughts are usually involved in our intuitive process and understanding and using this gift starts with awareness of how the messages are being delivered to you.

The Reveal

From left to right we have the Arfvedsonite crystal skull above the Eight of Wands card, the Zebra Jasper crystal skull above the Wheel of Fortune card, and the Fluorite crystal skull above the Ace of Wands. Is the card you felt drawn to what you expected? How do you feel about the card you were drawn to? Any thoughts that this card triggers for you? Awareness is the first step in developing your intuition, so paying attention to your thoughts, feelings and emotions as well as asking questions is important to understanding and developing your own personal intuition.

Arfvedsonite

This crystal was discovered in 1823 and named after the Swedish chemist Johan August Arfwedson.  It has been found in the U.S., Canada, Russia, Germany, South Africa, Norway and Greenland. It is often confused for Nuummite or Astrophyllite yet is not either one. It does often occur with Sugilite, and this mixed variety combines the attributes of both stones. It is known as a manifestation stone, and also known to offer assistance with intuition and psychic visions. This stone is said to increase positive energy and to be protective. It resonates with the Throat Chakra, helping you to speak your truth, and know when or if the truth is being spoken to you. This stone also helps open the Third Eye Chakra to receiving visions and intuitive information. It will further operate with the Crown Chakra to bring guidance in from your higher-self and guides. It is said to be so strong that many suggest using it for short periods until you are used to it and with grounding and protective stones like Tourmaline. This stone can help you with dream work, and psychic work, it is even said to be helpful with future predictions. This ability to help you clearly see the future as you may want it, or what may hinder it, might be helpful to its ability to assist in manifestation work. In divination this stone points to getting what you wish for. The caution as always is to be careful what you wish for and be sure you do want it and any other consequences associated with your wish.

Eight of Wands

This card is the eighth card in the Minor Arcana suit of Wands. It carries the astrological energy of Mercury in Sagittarius, with the modality and element of mutable fire. The image on this card is eight wands flying in the sky over a river. Eight in numerology is the great Karmic equalizer, creating and destroying, creating balance. Often eight is connected with the ideas of power and money. Some keywords associated with this tarot card include flying past obstacles, haste, optimism, action, liberation, fast results, adaptable intelligence, swiftness, messages, communications, and speed.  If you have been drawn to this card this week it is likely that things may seem to be “up in the air”, or you are waiting for something that is “on it’s way”. You won’t be waiting much longer so take advantage of the time to decide your next step as the wands will be landing soon and will require fast action on your part when they do.

Zebra Jasper

Unlike most other Jaspers which are spotted, Zebra Jasper is striped.  This opaque  silicate Chalcedony is in the quartz group and has a trigonal crystal structure. Most often found in Africa, Russia, and India. It is a good grounding stone that resonates with the Root Chakra. It is a stone that promotes balance with the dark and light stripes. Yin and Yang, male and female, this stone holds the energies of both and strives to balance excesses. Dreaming of Jasper is said to signify love returned. In divination this stone suggests using the actual technique of Earthing or Grounding to assist in calming any emotional storms you may be experiencing.

The Wheel of Fortune

This card is the Tenth card in the Major Arcana. Astrologically it carries the expansive energy of the planet Jupiter. The number ten in numerology signifies endings, but it is usually an ending of a cycle and contains the seeds of the new cycle within itself. The image on this card is of a great wheel near the edge of a cliff with what appear to be a king and queen celebrating being at the top, not seeming to be aware of the figure just ahead of them getting flung off the wheel. The wheel represents all manner of cycles and seasons. Some keywords for this card include fortune, destiny, luck, chance, karma, cycles, motion, wheel of life, wheel of the year, growth and expansion, confident expectation, movement, adapting to change, enthusiasm, beneficial circumstances, and stages of progress. If you have been drawn to this card this week that you are in a lucky place in your life. Even if it seems some things are ending, what is ending and the new phase that is coming in will ultimately be fortunate, and good for you. So count your blessings, and make the best of it, even if it looks like a bad situation right this second, the wheel is turning in your favor.

Fluorite

Fluorite is the mineral form of calcium fluoride, it belongs to the halide minerals. It is a widely occurring mineral with deposits found worldwide. Industrially it is used as flux for smelting, and in the production of some glasses and enamels. Fluorite is a very protective stone, good for grounding and harmonizing spiritual energy. It connects the mind to universal consciousness, and helps develop links with spirit. It helps bring intuitive insights into the physical plane. Fluorite balances mental and physical energies and can clear negative energies from the aura. It is said to enhance mental abilities and has been called the “genius stone”. It stimulates the electrical charge in the brain and increases prana energy. This stone works well with the upper Chakras. It needs to be cleared often as it is always working to absorb negativity from its environment. In divination this crystal is said to assist in making decisions that are practical, but also ethical and do not go against your principles.

Ace of Wands

This card is the first card in the Minor Arcana suit of Wands. Astrologically it is not associated with a specific planet but with primal fire, so any of the fire signs may correspond with this card. Aries (Cardinal in the suit of fire), Leo (Fixed), or Sagittarius (Mutable). The image on the card is of a hand emerging from the clouds holding a wand with greenery still sprouting from it. This is potential in it’s purest form. All Aces represent the new and this ace in particular shows a fiery new enthusiasm. This cards keywords include beginning a project, creative energy, starting a spiritual quest, new experiences, spiritual insight, will and stamina, and ability to channel a higher power. The three fire sign’s mottos are also something to take into consideration when pondering the Ace of Wands, with Aries it is “I am”, Leo is “I will” and Sagittarius is “I believe”. If you have been drawn to this card this week then expect something new to appear in your world, or even just in your mind. This new energy is likely to take you to places you have not yet been, stretching your physical, mental, and spiritual boundaries. Go ahead and get excited, just be careful not to burn yourself out.

Once you feel ready pick the card or crystal that you feel the most drawn to. The Crystal hearts above each card from left to right are Chrysocolla, Pietersite, and Amethyst. The deck this week is the Rider-Waite-Smith deck published by U.S. Games Systems, Inc.

The Reveal

Try to notice your first reaction when you see your card. Is it what you expected? How do you feel about it? Compare this to how you feel after the mini-reading for the card. Awareness of your feelings and emotions is a big first step in learning how your intuition works and is speaking to you.

From left to right we have Chrysocolla above the Four of Swords card, Pietersite above the Three of Swords, and Amethyst above the Four of Cups. Again pay attention to how you feel upon seeing your card, and then compare that to how you feel after the mini-reading. Do you feel better or worse after the interpretation of your chosen card? Chrysocolla

Chrysocolla is a copper stone often found growing with Azurite and Malachite, and sometimes contains Cuprite. It can be found in the form of Gem Sillica, a crystallized form where the Chrysocolla is fused with Quartz. It ranges in colors from blues to greens. This crystal is known as a stone of empowerment for feminine energies, a stone for wise women, and as a Goddess stone. It is also known as a crystal that encourages people to stay home and not feel negative effects from seclusion. A stone for monks, hermits, and even prisoners. Helpful for public speaking and teaching, for sharing your knowledge. It is associated with the throat chakra, and the heart chakra through its blue and green coloring. In divination this crystal may mean that you need to be generous or allowing with someone whom you don’t particularly like. It may call on you to be diplomatic or tactful with someone at this time.

Four of Swords

This card is the fourth card in the suit of Swords in the Minor Arcana. It carries the energy of Jupiter in Libra with the modality and element of cardinal air astrologically. It signals a time of renewal and expansive thinking. The image on the card is of a weary knight reclining on a stone slab in a chapel, he appears to be in deep meditation. Some keywords for this card include solitude, rest, withdrawal, reevaluating perspectives and strategies,  setting goals, opening to guidance from higher energies, optimistic, expansive and balanced. Swords represent the energies of our thinking and thoughts, communications, breathing, speech, and discrimination. The number four in numerology holds the energy of foundations, balance, sturdiness, the four directions, four elements, and even the energy of home, roots, and ancestry. If you were drawn to this card this week you may need some time alone to reflect on some things, and become clear about what steps to take next. It also might point to a need to simply begin or deepen a meditation practice at this time.

Pietersite

Pietersite is known as the Tempest Stone. It can clear the emotional air like a thunderstorm is known to do, leaving the aura and emotions feeling calm and renewed. It grounds physical energy centers to the etheric realm instead of to the Earth. It increases intuition, the use of the will, and the focus of one’s aim in life. It is also a powerful protective stone, especially against the elements, storms in particular. This crystal is also good for boosting confidence, creativity, and supports overcoming addictions. It is a blend of Tiger’s eye, Hawks eye, and Jasper with incredible chatoyancy (shimmery shine) that makes it seem to swirl like a storm brewing. It is a fairly recent discovery made by Sid Pieters in WIndhoek, Namibia. In divination this crystal means that you will see things in a new way, usually after something is brought to light.

Three of Swords

This card is the third card in the Minor Arcana suit of Swords. Astrologically it carries the energy of Saturn in Libra with the modality and element of cardinal air. This card image is one of the most striking in the tarot deck as three swords pierce a heart with storm clouds raining down in the background. The keywords and concepts for this card include that of severe distress, the heart tried by pain, painful advancement, upheaval, negative or hurtful thinking and communications, despair, and depression. While there is some consensus around this card pointing to pain, it is usually caused by and can be mitigated by our thinking, and perception. Swords are thoughts, thinking, communication, learning, and discernment. Three is a number for growth, and creativity, this can be good or bad. It is good if we are growing thoughts that increase our happiness, not so good if we are in a depressive spiral with our thoughts. If you have been drawn to this card this week it is likely that you will have some disappointment to work through. What you learn from it, and how you decide to move past it are going to be important. It may do well to remember this week that there is no failure but only lessons. Like Thomas Edison who is credited with having said about the light bulb before getting one to work successfully “I have not failed, I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work”.

Amethyst

Amethyst is a variety of quartz made up of silicone dioxide, it gets its color from iron, and aluminum deposits as well as natural irradiation. Found in places like Brazil, Bolivia, Mexico, Africa, Canada, Russia, U.S.A. and Europe. It has a long history of use by humans. For some it was merely decorative, but the ancient Greeks were known to use it as  protection against drunkenness. It has also been known for it’s healing and protective properties. It resonates with the Crown Chakra, and helps connect it to the Third Eye, or Brow Chakra (Ajna Chakra). It is called the “All- healer” and said to be one the most effective for healing plants, animals, and people. It is a calming and soothing stone. Dreaming of this stone is a good omen as it is said to mean that you are safe, or free from harm (or will be safe and free from harm if you are not currently). In divination this stone means that you will be able to be satisfied with things as they are without need for extremes.

Four of Cups

This card is the fourth card in the suit of cups in the Minor Arcana. It carries the astrological energy of Moon in Cancer and the modality and element of cardinal water. The image shows a figure sitting cross-legged and with arms crossed under a tree. There is a hand emerging from a cloud offering a cup, and three cups in the foreground. Fours are about foundations, stability, balance and authority. Cups represent the  emotions, intuition, creativity, and subconscious. Some keywords and concepts for this card include opportunities offered, contemplating a decision, dissatisfaction, passivity, brooding, inaction, or indecision. If you have been drawn to this card this week you may have been procrastinating on taking action or making a decision because you don’t feel emotionally ready, or emotionally satisfied about what your choices or the opportunities are. With the cups involved it may be that  mood is holding you back from thinking clearly. Create a pros and cons list so you can look at things in a more rational way. Remember that usually once we take some action even if small things start to feel better emotionally.

Once you are ready pick the card that you feel the most drawn to. This weeks deck is the Universal Waite Tarot Deck with drawings by Pamela Colman Smith and recolored by Mary Hanson-Roberts, published by U.S.Games Systems, Inc. I am using three different crystals above the cards as markers, I will also include these in the mini-readings that follow. From left to right we have a Clear Quartz point, in the middle we have a Spirit Quartz cluster, and on the right we have a Chevron Amethyst point.

Reveal

Take note of how you feel when you discover the card that you felt drawn to, and compare this feeling with the mini-reading that follows. Is it what you expected? Do you feel better or worse upon seeing the card, and then getting the interpretation? Being aware of your feelings can be a powerful method for increasing intuition for many. Lots of people feel it in their “gut”, or some may just “have a hunch”. Being aware of how your particular guidance system operates is the first step to making it stronger and more reliable.  From left to right we have the Clear Quartz point above the Ten of Pentacles,  in the center Spirit Quartz above the Nine of Cups, and Chevron Amethyst point above the Justice card on the right.

Clear Quartz

Clear quartz has the ability to focus, amplify, store, and transform energy. It is used in technology in watches, radio transmitters, and receivers, microphones,  ultra sound devices, memory chips in computers, and other electronic circuitry. The phenomenon of piezoelectricity, the release of electric charge under the application of mechanical stress, occurs in all noncentrosymmetric materials.  Pyroelctricity, the release of charge due to a material’s change of temperature occurs in all materials that belong to polar crystal symmetry class. Not all noncentrosymmetric classes are polar, and not all piezoelectric crystals are pyroelectric. All pyroelectric crystals are piezoelectric though.

These properties of energy amplification, programmability, and memory make quartz crystals useful for healing, meditation, communicating with guides, expanding consciousness, or really almost any other purpose you could imagine. It is good at amplifying the energies of other stones, or groups of stones like in grids. It is a wonderful material for wands and staffs, and everyone has seen or heard of a crystal ball for crystal gazing. In divination it can point to new energies, new beginnings, a need to make a decision and act quickly upon it, and dreaming of clear quartz can mean freedom from enemies.

Ten of Pentacles

This card is the tenth card in the suit of Pentacles in the Minor Arcana. It carries the energy of Mercury and Virgo, with a mutable modality and Earth element. The image is of a male elder seated amidst his family and pets (the dogs). Tens in numerology are about endings, but the number contains a one also so these endings are typically more cyclic than abrupt and permanent. Some keywords for this card include success, legacy, finances, wealth, foundations, home, and family. It is known as the “wall street card” as it often shows up to represent wealth and windfalls. It could be a change for the better of your living status through buying or selling property, or travel for work that leads to more money. This card is about satisfaction, but the satisfaction is more than wealth or money alone, it is usually health, and emotional happiness as well. In divination if you were drawn to this card this week then expect changes for the better in your life right now that will leave you feeling fairly content.

Spirit Quartz

Amethyst Spirit Quartz. Spirit Quartz, also known as Cactus Quartz, or Porcupine Quartz is at its core a terminated quartz crystal that is encrusted with hundreds of smaller crystal termination points. They are crystal communities usually found in clusters. The most common variety is Amethyst, but it can also be found in white quartz, Smokey quartz, and CItrine Quartz. Found in the Magaliesberg Mountain area of South Africa, these are crystals of harmony, alignment, and amplification. Each variety will have additional energies that it will express. The Amethyst Spirit Quartz activates the Crown Chakra, and higher. It can bring in spiritual information, and provide multi-dimensional healing. In some cases, suddenly bringing in information that might change your thinking, or spiritual connection, with healing as the ultimate end goal. This crystal is also used for cleansing the aura, healing the etheric body, dispelling negative attachments and entities, and assisting in the transition to other states of being. It is associated with many of the wisdom Goddesses like Minerva, or Sophia. In divination this crystal would suggest that your experiences with others will be more cooperative and friendlier than usual, you can use this energy to introduce new ideas that you may have been hesitating to bring up before.

Nine of Cups

This card is the ninth card in the Minor Arcana suit of Cups. It carries the astrological energy of Jupiter in Pisces with a modality and element of mutable water. The suit of cups are generally seen to represent feelings and emotions as well as creativity and imagination, and even intuition. The image on this card is of a merchant sitting satiated in front of a half circle of Cups, which may be seen as the merchant’s accomplishments. Some keywords for this card include Sociability, pride in prior accomplishments, emotional tranquility, good health, prosperity and growth. This card is often called the “wish card” and can signal getting one’s wish. In a situation where you have a yes or no question, this card upright would signal a “yes”. With that said it is wise to be careful of what you wish for. All things in moderation are well and good, but too much of anything, even something good can be a misfortune. If you have been drawn to this card this week then you may well find yourself “sitting pretty” as the saying goes, feeling satisfied and flush with what you think of as the good things in life.

Chevron Amethyst

It is also excellent at dissipating and dispelling negative energies, so it is helpful for journeying and trance work. This stone is also know to assist creative endeavors of all kinds. In divination this stone shows that you may enjoy feeling good and receiving rewards without going overboard, or to excess. Dreaming of Amethyst is protective and signals freedom from harm and negativity.

Justice

Justice is a Major Arcana card. In the Rider-Waite (Smith) deck Waite is known to have switched the order of this card with the card of Strength. So in this deck it is numbered eleven. It carries the astrological energy of the sign Libra, and modality and element of cardinal air. Some keywords include harmony and equilibrium, fair and balanced, choosing with discernment, poise, karma, values, priorities, justice, judgement, relationships, and partnerships. the image shows the figure of Justice sitting on a throne holding scales in one hand and in the other, a double edged sword. If this is the card that you have been drawn to this week remember the Goddess Maat, and keep your heart as light as her feather. The scales will balance in your favor if you do. This card might also suggest that you yourself remain in balance this week. This might show up in relationships where you may need to be careful of over-giving, or overdoing it.

From left to right above the cards we have a double terminated Citrine wand, a double terminated Tibetan Quartz wand, and on the left a Pietersite wand. The Reveal

Citrine

A variety of Quartz composed of silicon dioxide with a yellow tint that is derived from iron. It has a trigonal cellular shape. Found in Brazil, Africa, Madagascar, Spain, Russia, France, Scotland, and the U.S.A. It is associated with the Sacral Chakra, and the Root and Solar Plexus Chakras, connecting them and activating them. It carries a motivating, inspiring energy. It is known as the “merchant’s stone”, or the “success stone” and is said to assist in increasing wealth, abundance, and vitality.  It is often used to encourage manifestation and empower personal will. In divination it points to a time to communicate your ideas and needs clearly.

Justice

Tibetan Quartz

Found in the Himalayan Mountains of Tibet this quartz is a very protective and spiritual crystal. Protecting you, your aura, your environment, and even your spirituality from outside negative influences and energies. This crystal also resonates with the Third Eye Chakra assisting with meditation and intuition. While it works particularly well with the Ajna Chakra, it can clear and heal all the Chakras due to its being quartz. In divination this crystal points out that when you know the truth about who you are you have nothing left to prove or fear.

The Devil

This card is number fifteen of the Major Arcana in this deck. This card carries the astrological association with the sign Capricorn, and the modality and element of cardinal earth. The image on this card shows a horned Devil holding a chained couple captive. Some keywords associated with this card include materiality, temptation, obsession, scapegoating, limited outlook, mistakes, overreacting, being tied to a situation, person, or even a habit, addiction, fear of real self, fears, animal nature, material over spiritual attachments, and preoccupation with the dark side of things. If you have found yourself drawn to this card this week the message for you might be to look closely at what your true needs are, as opposed to wants, habits, or even addictions. You can free yourself, as you may notice the couple in chains are loosely chained and could escape if they only tried. It is a fairly recent discovery made by Sid Pieters in WIndhoek, Namibia. In divination this crystal means that you will see things in a new way, usually after something is brought to light.

Nine of Wands

This card is the ninth card in the Minor Arcana suit of wands. Astrologically attributed to the energies of the Moon and the sign Sagittarius (Moon in Sagittarius), the modality and element of mutable fire. The image on this card is one of a figure with a bandaged head, leaning on a wand with eight other wands lined up behind. Some keywords for this card include readiness, strength, watchfulness, on guard, wary, defensive, dedication and resilience, protecting one’s reputation, courage, and discipline. Tarot Tuesday

Take a moment and take a deep breath. Get centered, and grounded, then pick a card. By get centered I mean to get calm, focused, and to be present in the moment.  By get grounded I mean to uncross your feet and arms, with feet flat on the floor. It is also beneficial if you can quickly imagine roots shooting down from your root Chakra and feet into the Earth. Allow these roots to anchor you in a supportive way that neutralizes negativity and draws up nurturing Earth energy for stability. Sometimes more than one deep breath is needed to feel ready. Often three nice, slow, deep breaths are just right. Do what feels best for you..

When you feel ready pick the card that you feel most drawn to. This week the deck is the Morgan-Greer Tarot deck published by U.S. Games Systems, Inc. The stones directly above each card I am using as markers and also including in the mini-readings that will follow. From left to right we have a Desert Rose (a form of Selenite) above the Ten of Cups, Moonstone above the Queen of Wands, and Scolecite above the Fool.  Take notice of your initial reaction to seeing the card that you felt drawn to. By paying attention to our thoughts and feelings we better able to decipher our own inner guidance, and know what our intuition is telling us. Awareness and trust of any mental, physical, or even spiritual clues that are being given to us helps to strengthen our perception and understanding of our personal intuitive guidance.

Desert Rose (Selenite)

This stone is also called Gypsum Rose.  It is a combination of Selenite and Barite formed from a process of moisture condensation that is then  exposed to wind and sand erosion. Most often it is found in desert areas of places like Algeria, Australia, Spain, Morocco, Mexico, and South Africa. Desert Rose is said to help provide clarity to thoughts, removing confused or negative thinking. It is also said to clear and balance the upper chakras. The energies of this stone are grounding, supportive and soothing, said to each contain a guardian spirit. Helpful with confidence and luck in relationships of all kinds, personal as well as business. It is also said to assist with dream work, past life work, and most other psychic and spiritual endeavors. In divination Selenite suggests a good chance of reconciliation but a need to make the first move. Desert Rose on the other hand speaks of trusting your own intuition, or “listening to your gut instinct”. If it “feels” right then go merrily ahead with it, if it “feels” off then be cautious, or think twice about it.

Ten of Cups

This card is the tenth card in the MInor Arcana suit of cups. Tens are about endings, but the ending is usually of a cycle or a pattern with a new fresh start ahead. Cups are related to our emotions, feelings, creativity, intuition, and spirituality. Astrologically this card has the energy of Mars in Pisces, inspired action. It has the modality and element of mutable water, changing emotions. It is often portrayed as a happy card, like this image showing what would appear to be two people (their arms at least) sharing a cup with a rainbow and bounty of other cups in the air. A card of family happiness and long-lasting togetherness. Some keywords include love, peace, joy, good fortune, and contentment. If you were drawn to this card this week it is likely that you will find yourself in a good place, feeling fairly well satisfied with things. As it is a ten though, you want to pay attention to your intuition and take inspired action if you sense the winds of change blowing in directions you don’t want to go in.

Moonstone

Moonstone is a sodium potassium aluminum silicate of the feldspar group that displays a pearly opalescent schiller. It has been used in jewelry for millennia. The ancient Romans and Greeks associated it with lunar Goddesses. It is found in locations like Armenia, Australia, Austrian Alps, Mexico, Madagascar, Myanmar, Norway, Poland, India, Sri Lanka,  and the United States (It has been the Florida State gemstone since 1970 to commemorate the Moon landings, but it does not naturally occur it that state). Moonstone is know to some as the “traveler’s stone” and is said to be protective for travelers, especially those who travel at night. This is a great choice for creating a protection charm to keep in your car. It is also said to be a good stone for fertility and it offers assistance and support to those who are expression their creativity in any of the arts. It is a feminine stone associated with the Crown Chakra, and our spiritual center.  It is also said to balance and support the physical, emotional, and intellectual bodies. In divination Moonstone suggests that it is a good time to express what is in your heart.

Queen of Wands

This card is a court card from the suit of wands. It is mutable water and cardinal fire, or Water in the Suit of Fire, with the energy of the Cardinal sign Aries. The image is one of a regal looking woman holding a wand and a sunflower. A charismatic, self-made, warm-hearted, woman with high ideals, courage and conviction. Some keywords include fiery, passionate, energetic, powerful, imaginative, bold, aware, optimistic, outgoing, dramatic, and a benevolent authority. If you have been drawn to this card this week this card may represent you, and if so step into the position of authority and lead with confidence and kindness. If it represents someone in your life it is likely that you can expect them to be kindly disposed toward you and your plans, count them as an ally this week ahead.

Scolecite

Scolecite is a tectosilicate mineral belonging to the zeolite group. It was described and named in 1813 for the Greek word for “worm” because of its reaction to the blowpipe flames. First described in Kaiserstuhl, a state in southwest Germany. It is also found in Iceland, India, Brasil, California, Scotland, and many other localities. It is a high vibration crystal that assists with communication, especially with spirit and higher self. It has an association to the Heart Chakra, as well as the Third Eye Chakra. A yin energy stone that can help you recharge. It also assists with overcoming derision from peers, and provides warm feelings of being loved. This is an excellent stone for developing self-love and self- confidence. The energy of this stone can help one gain enough self-acceptance to allow for creativity to emerge. In divination Scolecite suggests that you can find a place of balance between loving who you are now as you are, and striving to better yourself.

The Fool

This Major Arcana card is numbered zero in this deck. In different decks it is placed in different positions, sometimes zero, sometimes twenty two. In the Rider-Waite- Smith deck for example Waite placed it after Judgement numbered twenty, but left it numbered at zero. In astrology it is attributed to Uranus, and the element of Air. Zero can be thought of as the unlimited absolute, or nothingness. The image of this card shows a youth traveling with a dog ( animal nature, instinct) holding a white rose of a passion that is pure and innocent in one hand and a wand with his sack of belongings( or experiences, or karmic baggage) in his other hand. When this card shows up it often can point to the beginning of an adventure, or any new undertaking or thing that may enter your world. It can also mean innocence, idealism, risk taking, trusting, seeking, spontaneous, and imaginative. Many see this card as the seeker starting the Hero’s Journey through the Tarot. If this is the card that you have been drawn to this week it is likely that you should go ahead and start something new, take the leap of faith in yourself and do whatever it is you have been afraid of. This is a time of unlimited potential.

Once you are ready pick the card that you feel the most drawn to. This week’s tarot deck is the Universal Waite Tarot, published by U.S. Games systems, Inc. With drawings by Pamela Colman Smith, recolored by Mary Hanson Roberts. The crystals above each card are used as markers, and will be included in the mini-readings that follow. From left to right we have  Mangano Calcite above the Nine of Pentacles, Apatite above the Eight of Cups, and Pyrite above the Knight of Wands.

Mangano Calcite

This variety of Calcite belongs to the carbonates mineral class and exhibits a trigonal crystal system. It is found in the United States, Brazil, Peru, Belgium, Britain, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Iceland and Romania. It is also called “pink Magnesium Calcite” and even “the Reiki stone”. It is said to be a feminine crystal and some of it’s healing benefits are believed to include having a positive effect on the female body. It has a calming and nurturing energy that allows one to relax into feeling aligned with Universal love, and self-love. This stone resonates with the Heart Chakra. It is also said to have the energy of motherly love, which can ease emotional hurts and promote self-love, and self-care. It is associated with the astrological signs of Cancer, Libra, and Taurus. In divination this stone may show up when we are being offered the opportunity to learn lessons of Universal love.

Nine of Pentacles

This card is a Minor Arcana card or pip card. This card is an Earth element card, and is said to carry the energy of Venus in Virgo. The number nine is a number that represents culminating energy. Pentacles represent money and wealth, but also physical health and the material world itself. The card itself shows a woman in her garden with a falcon. This image speaks of self-sufficiency, self-empowerment, financial well-being, independence, and even creativity and spiritual connection (being able to use spiritual messages in practical ways).  She is alone in that she is the only person in the image, yet there is no evidence of her being lonely. A small snail near her feet might suggest a that it took some time to grow and develop not only the wealth but possibly the self-assurance as well. If you have chosen this card it may be time to focus on growing your “garden”. Now is not a time to build your world around what anyone else wants for or from you, instead build it to suit yourself. Learn to be happy with your own company, it is better to have fewer friends than many false ones.

Apatite

Apatite is a group of phosphate minerals, hydroxylapatite,  fluorapatite, and chlorapatite. It is the defining mineral for 5 on the Mohs scale. Hydroxylapatite is a component in tooth enamel and bone minerals. Metaphysically this stone is seen as being a dual purpose stone that will help clear away negativity and assist in manifestation. This stone is associated with the Throat and Third Eye Chakras, so creativity, communications, and intuition are assisted with this stone. It is also said to help suppress the appetite, and help ease fear of dental work being done. It is known for assisting with healing and balancing the Chakras, assisting with dream work, meditation, and past-life work. In divination this stone signifies slow, steady improvement that is permanent.

Eight of Cups

The Eight of Cups is the eighth card in the Minor Arcana suit of Cups. The astrological correspondence is Saturn in Pisces, the modality and element of mutable water. The image in this card shows a figure walking away from eight carefully arranged cups, suggesting as Waite said of the card, that the figure is abandoning all of it’s previous undertakings. The element of water is associated with feelings, emotions, and in some cases the sub-conscious, or unconscious. The number eight in numerology represent power, and a need for decision making. Eight also is a number of balance and harmony, of material and spiritual. In divination this card shows a need to make a decision to leave or quit something (or someone) that is not working, or is not balanced (power struggles that leave you emotionally drained for instance). You can do it fast like ripping off a band-aid, or slowly leave the scene, but emotionally as soon as you make the decision, you are as good as gone.

Pyrite 

The mineral iron pyrite is an iron sulfide, thought to be the most common sulfide minerals. It is found around the world in a variety of geological formations. it can be used as a protective talisman. It resonates with the second and Third Chakras. It carries a masculine energy and its name comes from the Greek word pyros which means fire, as it has the ability to emit sparks when struck against a hard surface, or pieces are struck together.  It is often called “Fool’s Gold” as it can glitter and shine, but it is lighter in color than actual gold. This is a very protective stone that can assist with confidence. In divination this stone suggests checking carefully into any new opportunities, if it seems too good to be true, it just might be.

Knight Of Wands

This card is a court card in the Minor Arcana. It is known as Air in the Suit of Fire, and it has an astrological affinity with the Mutable Fire sign of Sagittarius. The image on the card is of a young knight rearing up on his horse in fiery appearing attire, holding a wand or staff. If this card doesn’t represent an actual young man in your life then it may concern all types of dynamic communication. Movement, travel, active, issue oriented and fighting for a cause are all keywords associated with this card. In divination it may point to an actual person of this nature that you encounter, or it may suggest travel or even a move. Fluorite Crystal

Ten of Pentacles

This card is the tenth card in the suit of Pentacles in the Minor Arcana. It carries the energy of Mercury and Virgo, with a mutable modality and Earth element. The image is of a male elder seated amidst his family and pets (the dogs). Tens in numerology are about endings, but the number contains a one also so these endings are typically more cyclic than abrupt and permanent. Some keywords for this card include success, legacy, finances, wealth, foundations, home, and family. It is known as the “wall street card” as it often shows up to represent wealth and windfalls. It could be a change for the better of your living status through buying or selling property, or travel for work that leads to more money. This card is about satisfaction but this is not just financial, but there is an emotional element to it as well. We are generally able to be more emotionally generous when we are feeling secure with our place in life. Sunstone Crystal

Sunstone is a plagioclase feldspar. It has been found in southern Norway, Sweden and various locations around the U.S. It is known as a joyful stone that assists in the nurturing of self in order to be of service to others. It is said to increase vitality, abundance, and luck. It carries the energy of Solar Deities. It will clear and cleanse all chakras, but works particularly well with the base and sacral chakras. In divination Sunstone heralds luck and health, our challenge is to enjoy this period of time without worrying if it will last.

Two of Swords

The Two of Swords is the second card in the Minor Arcana suit of Swords. It is astrologically attributed to the energies of Moon in Libra, and its modality is cardinal and element is Air. Twos in numerology are about communications, dualities, and balance. The image is one of a blindfolded female holding two swords. Some keywords associated with this card are decisions, balance, planning, strategy, and awareness. The suit of swords represents Air element, which has to do with thoughts and mentality, as well as communication. If you have been drawn to this card this week then you may want to write up a pros and cons list if you need to decide something. Use your all your abilities to be clear and concise when you need to communicate what you have decided. Blue Calcite Crystal

Calcite is a carbonate mineral. There are over 800 varieties. Most on the market these days comes from Brazil and Mexico. This stone will clear out negative energies from physical bodies and environments. It clears out old patterns so healing and new patterns can be established. It also assists with increasing intuition and emotional healing and balancing. This stone represents female intuitive yin energy. In divination this stone suggests that you might need to work on healing self-talk right now, making sure your inner dialog speaks to you as you would speak to your own best friend. This is a time for healing your emotions, before you worry about making anyone else understand them.

King of Cups

This card is a court card in the Minor Arcana suit of cups. This card carries the energy of fixed Air and mutable Water (some systems say Fire in the Suit of Water, Fixed Water, Scorpio). Kings are power and authority, Cups are feelings, emotions, intuition, and creativity. The image is a King sitting upon his throne holding a cup and his scepter. Some keywords include sensitive, enthusiastic, creative, caring, and artistic. This card can often signify an actual person in your life, usually but not always a male. It may also represent you, or a situation. Once you feel ready pick the card that you feel the most drawn to. This week the card deck is the Morgan-Greer deck from U.S. Games Systems, Inc. Tarot Reveal

From left to right we have the Green Agate pyramid on the far left above the High Priestess card, in the center is the Selenite pyramid above the Ten of Swords, and on the far right is the Shungite pyramid above the Emperor card.

Green Agate

Agate is a type of Chalcedony, a mineral in the Quartz family. This stone has a stabilizing and strengthening influence. This stone is also good for attracting wealth and abundance of all kinds, including the growth and increase of health as well as finances or things. It will aid in attracting friendship too. It is a green stone and is aligned with the heart chakra. In divination this stone suggests a slow, steady increase in that which you need most now. It might be health, money, love, or a promotion. Overall when drawn to this stone you can expect an improvement, it may not be an instant improvement, but it is in the process of becoming more like what you desire.

High Priestess

This is the second Major Arcana, or Trump card in most traditional decks. The element is Water and the ruling planet is the Moon, which rules the sign Cancer(which rules home and family). This card represents the female indwelling presence of the divine, or anima. This card contains suggestions of it’s connection to the Moon with the crescent moon at the Priestess’ feet. This hints at cycles of not only the moon, or the female, but cycles of all kinds are subtly suggested. Water is generally seen as emotions and feelings, and they can ebb and flow like the tides.  Two in numerology represents communications and relationships among other things. With this card the communication could just as likely be from or to your subconscious as another person. This card has keywords like mystery, secrets, silence, stillness, and hidden. They suggest not only the possibility that something is being kept from you, but that perhaps your best course of action is to not “lay all your cards on the table” either. I have seen this card show up in readings representing the ideal, or “perfect” woman. With this in mind it may be time if you have been drawn to this card this week, to trust your inner feminine, your instincts and intuition. (also all keywords for this card) To work on communicating with and building relationship with that part of yourself.

Selenite

Selenite is a clear transparent form of gypsum, a very soft mineral that is easily scratched and water-sensitive. A common mineral that crystallizes in long, blade-like striations, that can be shaped and tumbled.  It is named after the Moon Goddess Selene.  This stone has the ability to remove unwanted energies from the body. It balances and stabilizes not just the physical body but also emotions.  It is a protective stone that can also awaken your intuition. It can cleanse other crystals as well as you and your environment but it does itself need to be cleansed.  This stone resonates with the Crown Chakra and higher chakras. This is a highly valued stone for spiritual work, and can be used to cut cords, clear energy bodies and clear and align chakras. In divination it suggests that your situation might be unstable or about to change. You might have to separate from something or somebody that isn’t serving your best interests.

Ten of Swords

This card is the tenth card in the Minor Arcana suit of swords. It’s element and modality are mutable air, with the energy of the Sun and sign of Gemini. The number ten is often associated with endings and conclusions, but it also contains the number one within it hinting at a whole new beginning.  The image of this card is of a figure face down on the ground with ten swords impaled into the back. Swords are the element of Air, which is thinking and mentality. This might show faulty thinking being the cause of this unexpected ending. It might also point to the need for new thoughts or ways of thinking about things in order to avoid a repeat of this kind of painful experience. Sometimes I have seen this card appear in a reading when not only a new way of thinking were needed, but new methods as well, like trying meditation, or acupuncture(as the image looked at literally might suggest). In any case if you were drawn to this card this week it might be time to carefully examine your thoughts and belief system, then look around you to see what might not be alignment with your highest good and if it is time to clear that away so you can begin a new cycle.

Shungite

Shungite is a black, lusterous, non-crystalline mineraloid that is more than 98 weight percent  carbon. It gets it’s name from where it was first described Shunga village, in Karelia, Russia. It contains trace amounts of fullerenes, which are powerful anti-oxidants. Used in folk medicine since the early 18th century. Peter the Great set up Russia’s first Spa in Karelia to use the water filtering properties of this mineraloid. He also used it to provide purified water for the Russian Army. It’s black color is protective, and it’s electricity conducting ability make it a great amplifier in meditation and magick.  It is also said to protect from negative energies of all kinds including electronic pollution and E.M.F.s. It is also said to have a connection with the Earth Star Chakra, and ancient Earth energies. It is a very grounding and healing stone that is also used for the base or root Chakra.  In divination Shungite would point to a need to clean and protect yourself and your environment.

The Emperor

This card is the fourth card in the Major Arcana. Fire is the Emperor’s element,  cardinal modality, and it is ruled by the planet Mars. This card shows an Emperor sitting upon his throne, holding a scepter, or staff with a globe, and a sword. This tarot card represents security, and stability, as well as power and control. It is about control of self, and the world around you. The Emperor is in charge, and makes the rules. This card can represent a father, or father figure, a leader,  a boss, or other authority figure. This card may also represent you if you are in a position of authority, or taking control of some thing, or some aspect of your life. The number four in numerology represents things like foundations,  and security.  Some keywords connected with the Emperor card include law, order, power, authority, rules, boundaries, and promotion. If you have been drawn to this card this week it might be a good idea to set some clear boundaries with others, and focus on building secure foundations for yourself including relationships and your environment.

When you feel ready pick the card that you feel the most drawn to. This week the deck is the Radiant Rider-Waite Tarot deck, from U.S. Games.  I have used crystals above each card and will include information on each in the mini-readings. From left to right the crystals that are above the cards as markers are Pietersite , Purpurite, and Chrysocolla.

The Reveal

From left to right we have Pietersite above the Six of Wands on the far left, Purpurite above the Page of Pentacles in the center, and Chrysocolla above the Queen of Swords on the far right. Take note of which card and crystal you were drawn to, and your first reaction to it. You can compare this initial intuition of yours with how you feel after you read the information in the mini-reading. Did the card you were drawn to make sense for you at this time? Did your initial reaction to the card prove to be aligned with the card interpretation? The more you pay attention to your own intuition and internal guidance system the stronger and more accurate they become.

 

Pietersite Crystal

Pietersite is known as the Tempest Stone. It can clear the emotional air like a thunderstorm is known to do leaving the aura and emotions feeling calm and renewed. It grounds physical energy centers to the etheric realm instead of to the Earth. It increases intuition, the use of the will, and the focus of one’s aim in life. It is also a powerful protective stone, especially against the elements, storms in particular. This crystal is also good for boosting confidence, creativity, and supports overcoming addictions. It is a blend of Tiger’s eye, Hawks eye, and Jasper with incredible chatoyancy (shimmery shine) that makes it seem to swirl like a storm brewing. It is a fairly recent discovery made by Sid Pieters in WIndhoek, Namibia. In divination this crystal means that you will see things in a new way, usually after something is brought to light.

Six of Wands

This card carries the energy of the planet Jupiter, and the sign Leo. Its modality is fixed and its element is fire.  The image on the card depicts a man on horseback with a laurel wreath not only on his head but also on the staff he holds. This card is considered a card of victory and success. Keywords include completion, success, reward, recognition, good news, and triumph. While the victory may be an internal one, it usually is one that will be recognized by those around you. You have summoned your inner fire of will and inspiration to win the day. The message of this card is that even if challenges are apparent you will overcome them.

Purpurite

The name Purpurite comes from the latin word “purpura” which means purple. Purpurite is a mineral phosphate and is what results in the oxidation of iron or manganese, or both, with a little leaching from lithiophilite. It is found in many places in the U.S., Portugal, France, Namibia, Australia, and Sweden. It helps with confidence, clear thinking, and ability to speak freely. This stone is also said to work with the crown chakra (and all the higher transpersonal chakras) to assist with spiritual connection and bring those healing energies down into the lower realms. This stone is helpful to those who do energy or oracle work, allowing clear communication and understanding of messages and the reading of energies. In divination this stone suggests that you be open for new ways to heal.

Page of Pentacles

This card is said to be Earth in the suit of Earth. It corresponds astrologically to Capricorn, Taurus, and Virgo.  It is the perpetual student, an idealist, perfectionist. This card can represent a young person, especially an Earth sign. Some keywords are alert, practical, optimistic, and willing to work hard, and open to learning things, so studious and diligent. When this card does not represent an actual person it often indicates messages, these could be spoken, written, or delivered via the Universe through signs. As an Earth sign these messages can often relate to our physical bodies, money and finances, or our environment.  The message this card holds this week is to be be alert for messages about healing. This healing could be around any or all of the topics above like education and study, our physical environment, bodies, or money and finances.

 

Chrysocolla Crystal

Chrysocolla is a copper stone often found growing with Azurite and Malachite, and sometimes contains Cuprite. It can be found in the form of Gem Sillica, a crystallized form where the Chrysocolla is fused with Quartz. It ranges in colors from blues to greens. This crystal is known as a stone of empowerment for feminine energies, a stone for wise women, and as a Goddess stone. It is also known as a crystal that encourages people to stay home and not feel negative effects from seclusion. A stone for monks, hermits, and even prisoners. Helpful for public speaking and teaching, for sharing your knowledge. It is associated with the throat chakra, and the heart chakra through its blue and green coloring. In divination this crystal may mean that you need to be generous or allowing with someone whom you don’t particularly like. It may call on you to be diplomatic or tactful with someone at this time.

Queen of Swords

This Minor Arcana court card is said to be Water in the suit of Air. This card also has an affinity for the astrological sign of Libra. A serious woman on a throne holding a sword in her right hand and raising her left hand toward an unseen subject. The element of Air rules thinking and intellect. This card usually represents a woman, often an Air sign. It is thought that she knows suffering and sometimes is said to represent a widow. In any case she is quick witted, and independent. The sword card also can represent writing, an on-line presence, handicrafts, and sometimes even a sharp tongue. Some keywords include independent, intellectual, witty, perceptive, feminist, justice, solutions, and accuracy. This card might represent a woman who is in or will enter your life, or it might even be you. The message of this card is to use some of the Venus ruled Libra energy to include grace and beauty in your expressions this week. Whether you are writing a blog, a manifesto, or even knitting a shawl, do it gracefully and beautifully.

February 5th Tarot Tuesday

Take a moment and take a deep breath. Get centered, and grounded, then pick a card. By get centered I mean to get calm, focused, and to be present in the moment.  By get grounded I mean to uncross your feet and arms, with feet flat on the floor. It is also beneficial if you can quickly imagine roots shooting down from your root Chakra and feet into the Earth. Allow these roots to anchor you in a supportive way that neutralizes negativity and draws up nurturing Earth energy for stability. Sometimes more than one deep breath is needed to feel ready. Often three nice, slow, deep breaths are just right. Do what feels best for you..

When you feel ready pick the card that you are most drawn to. From left to right there are different crystals above the cards. I will use these as markers for each card, and include them in the mini-reading. From Left to right we have a Green Agate Pyramid, an Unakite egg, and a Shiva Lingam. This week I am using the Radiant Rider-Waite (Smith) tarot deck from U.S. Games Systems, Inc.

The Reveal

Starting on the left we have the Green agate pyramid above the Emperor card, in the center is the Unakite egg above the Judgement card, and on the right is the Shiva Lingam above the Sun card. I find it interesting that all the cards are from the Major Arcana this week. The energy in general this week is certainly strong as we have just had a New Moon in Aquarius, along with the Sun of course but also joined by Mercury and Lilith. Also all the planets are direct with no retrogrades this month. This suggests a time for things to move forward.

Green Agate

Agate is a type of Chalcedony, a mineral in the Quartz family. This stone has a stabilizing and strengthening influence. This stone is also good for attracting wealth and abundance of all kinds, including the growth and increase of health as well as finances or things. It will aid in attracting friendship too. It is a green stone and is aligned with the heart chakra. In divination this stone suggests a slow, steady increase in that which you need most now. It might be health, money, love, or a promotion. Overall when drawn to this stone you can expect an improvement, it may not be an instant improvement, but it is in the process of becoming more like what you desire.

The Emperor

This card is the fourth card in the Major Arcana. Fire is the Emperor’s element,  cardinal modality, and it is ruled by the planet Mars. This card shows an Emperor sitting upon his throne, holding a scepter, and a globe. This tarot card represents security, and stability, as well as power and control. It is about control of self, and the world around you. The Emperor is in charge, and makes the rules. This card can represent a father, or father figure, a leader,  a boss, or other authority figure. This card may also represent you if you are in a position of authority, or taking control of some thing, or some aspect of your life. If you are drawn to this card this week then it is time to make decisions, and take actions that will lead to the outcomes that you desire. Realize that a period of hard work, control, and persistence is needed to create, maintain, and then grow your desire into something even better.

Unakite Jasper

Unakite Jasper is also called Epidote. It is an amalgamation of Red Jasper, Pink Feldspar, and Green Epidote. It forms as a dense mass of opaque granite rock that ranges in shades of greens, pinks, and and light reds or peach colors. Named for the Unaka Mountains of Tennessee, and North Carolina, in the United states where it was first discovered. It is also found around the Great Lakes, and Zimbabwe, and Switzerland. It is said to be a healing crystal for both the heart and the mind, and balances the emotional body. Due to this it helps in attracting healthy relationships. It is used in spells for love, and fertility. This crystal is supportive of relationships and business. It also helps to release bad habits, and negative patterns you might be stuck in. It is associated with the heart chakra. It is good for spiritual studies, and for rebirthing, and past life healing as well. In divination it points to learning from the past, or overcoming it, and moving forward.

Judgement

This Major Arcana card is number twenty and it is ruled by Pluto and its element is fire.  The image of an Angel blowing a trumpet and grey figures emerging from coffins impresses the idea of being called to awaken, or start living life in a new way. Keywords include Reincarnation, transition, decision making, awakening, renewal, and even success is implied. If you were drawn to this card this week it suggests that it is a time to make some big changes in your life. The Universe is calling you to live your life in a new way, give up old habits and beliefs that are holding you back. Embrace the new ideas that are calling to you. This card shows that now is the time to transition from your old life and into your new way of being.

Shiva Lingam

The Shiva Lingam is an egg shaped stone made of Jasper. These stones are found in the Narmada River in Onkar Mandhata India. No two stones are alike. The shape is phallic and said to represent masculine energy, while the pattern on the stones is said to represent female energy. It symbolizes the God Shiva’s union with his consort Kali, activating the root and sacral chakras. The Shiva Lingam raises and controls kundalini energy, assisting with spiritual evolution through tantra or sex magic. It also represents balance, harmony, and aiding in the union of opposites. In divination it points to finding your balance so that the perfect balanced match or partnership can be experienced.

The Sun

This Major Arcana, or Trump card is number nineteen, its element is fire and rules itself. The Sun is the central source of light and energy, the primary symbol of the ego, and the full achievement of personal potential. The image on this card is of an infant on the back of a white horse with the Sun and sunflowers behind him. The keywords include joy, happiness, vitality, enlightenment, success, and marriage. This card represents happiness, joy, harmony, and good luck and fortune. It is a time of synchronicity when your inner being is aligned to the same frequency as all the good people, things, and circumstances that you might wish to encounter. If there is a question of whether or not you can do something, or if you should, then this card is a resounding YES. If you were drawn to this card this week remember that it is like the Hermetic axiom of As above, so below, as within, so without. You, and your state of mind, feelings, and emotions is what is creating or allowing(however you want to view it) the good fortune to happen.
